Woods

The cadence and proportionate ranks of the trees in the woods, and their rhythm on the flat surface is what inspired me during this work, as well as the lines of their bark, as they progress and stretch upwards on the trunk like waves. One of my earlier designs was related to this topic, but only in the form of graphics.
The basic concept is that the threads of the cotton weft slide on the weft of the line, creating interesting surfaces that can be slid into each other, giving the “waves” of the bark, and branching apart on the upper part of the fabric like the branches of the trees. The density of the cotton and the transparency of the line become a whole when met with light. The playfulness of the light passing through completes the work.
